Job Description

An inpatient locum tenens opportunity is available for a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) in Brunswick, Maine. This assignment is based in a fast-paced operating room and surgery department with efficient turnover and a predominantly bread-and-butter case mix.

The position begins in April or May and offers weekday coverage with a minimum commitment of 30 hours per week. Shifts may include 8-hour or 10-hour days, depending on scheduling needs. CRNAs will also participate in approximately one call shift per week, covering a 24-hour period from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. the following day.

The clinical scope includes obstetric anesthesia with over 500 deliveries annually, healthy pediatric cases, ENT, rare orthopedic cases, and cath lab coverage. The practice does not include neuro, trauma, vascular, or cardiac anesthesia. CRNAs work within a supervised care model at an approximate 4:1 CRNA-to-anesthesiologist ratio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide anesthesia care for inpatient surgical and obstetric cases
  • Support OB anesthesia services with a moderate annual delivery volume
  • Manage healthy pediatric, ENT, and select orthopedic cases
  • Participate in scheduled weekday shifts and weekly call coverage
  • Deliver safe, efficient anesthesia care in a high-turnover environment

Job Requirements

  • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
  • Active Maine CRNA license or IMLC eligibility
  • Comfort with obstetric anesthesia and inpatient surgical cases
  • Ability to work within a supervised anesthesia care model

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Locum tenens assignment beginning April/May
  • Weekday shifts (8s or 10s) with a minimum of 30 hours per week
