Maine Locum CRNA – Independent Practice (No Call, No Weekends)

Job Description

An independent anesthesia practice in northern Maine is seeking a locum Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist for ongoing coverage beginning April 2026. This position offers a fully independent practice model with daytime-only shifts, no call requirements, and no weekend coverage.

The assignment is structured as a 1099 locum contract with 3–6 month terms and the option to extend. The clinical environment emphasizes efficiency and autonomy, with a focused case mix and paper charting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia services independently without medical direction
• Perform pre-anesthesia evaluations and develop anesthesia care plans
• Administer anesthesia for scheduled surgical and procedural cases
• Manage intraoperative monitoring and airway care
• Oversee post-anesthesia recovery and patient disposition
• Maintain accurate paper-based anesthesia documentation

Clinical Case Mix

• Orthopedic surgery
• Endoscopy
• General surgery
• Urology
• Pediatric cases not currently scheduled, but may be added in the future

Schedule & Assignment Details

• Locum Tenens / Contract position
• 8-hour shifts: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• No call responsibilities
• No nights or weekends
• Ongoing coverage with 3–6 month contracts
• Credentialing timeframe: 60–90 days (temporary privileges available with clean background and active license)

Compensation & Coverage

• 1099 compensation structure
• Malpractice insurance provided (1M / 3M)

Job Requirements

• Active, unrestricted Maine CRNA license required
• NBCRNA certification required
• ACLS required
• PALS negotiable
• Comfortable practicing independently
