Locum Tenens CRNA – Solo Practice Opportunity in Iowa

Job Description

This locum tenens CRNA position is based at a 50-bed hospital in Iowa and offers a high-autonomy, solo CRNA practice environment. The facility operates five operating rooms and is expanding with a new OR, creating an ongoing need for coverage. This assignment is ideal for CRNAs comfortable with independent practice, regional anesthesia, and OB-related skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide solo CRNA anesthesia services in a critical access-style hospital setting
• Perform bread-and-butter anesthesia cases including ortho, OB/GYN, ENT, cataracts, podiatry, and urology
• Perform regional anesthesia, including blocks, spinals, and epidurals
• Participate in light weekday and optional weekend call coverage
• Utilize Epic electronic medical record system

Compensation & Benefits

• $245/hour with an 8-hour daily minimum (Monday–Friday)
• Weeknight beeper call (M–F): $400 flat rate
• Weeknight call-back pay: $260/hour with a 2-hour minimum
• Weekend call: $1,800 per 24-hour period (includes 2 hours of call-back)
• Additional weekend call-back pay: $260/hour after initial 2 hours
• $35/day meal per diem
• Lodging provided
• Round-trip mileage reimbursed at IRS mileage rate

Job Requirements

• Active Iowa CRNA license
• ACLS, PALS, and CPR certifications required
• Iowa State Substance Certificate required
• Federal DEA registration required
• Comfortable with blocks, epidurals, and spinal anesthesia

Schedule & Work Environment

• Locum tenens, ongoing coverage (estimated 6 months)
• Full-time preferred; open to 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off
• Preference for five 8-hour shifts; 10-hour shifts considered
• No overtime after 40 hours; overtime applies only after 10-hour shifts
• Light call: approximately one weekday night per week
• Approximately 400 births annually; CRNAs do not stay in-house for epidurals
• Solo CRNA practice with a team of 9 CRNAs when fully staffed
