Locum Tenens CRNA – $245/Hour | Solo Practice in Central Iowa

Job Description

GQR is seeking an experienced Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) for a locum tenens opportunity in Central Iowa. This solo CRNA position offers excellent compensation, flexible scheduling, and light call responsibilities in a supportive hospital environment. Coverage is needed for 2-week rotations up to full-time, with travel, meals, and malpractice covered.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide full anesthesia services in a solo CRNA practice covering a range of bread-and-butter surgical cases.
• Perform regional anesthesia techniques, including blocks, spinals, and epidurals.
• Manage cases across 5 operating rooms, collaborating with surgeons and nursing staff to ensure safe, efficient care.
• Participate in light call coverage (approximately one weeknight per week) with optional weekend availability.
• Deliver anesthesia for orthopedic, OB/GYN, ENT, cataract, podiatry, and urology cases.

Compensation & Benefits

• $245/hour (8-hour daily minimum, Monday–Friday)
• $260/hour for call-backs after hours (2-hour minimum)
• $400 per weeknight call (M–F)
• $1,800 per 24-hour weekend call
• $35/day meal per diem
• Travel reimbursement and paid malpractice insurance
• Weekly pay via 1099 independent contractor status

Job Requirements

• Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
• Active Iowa CRNA license, State Substance Certificate, and Federal DEA
• ACLS, PALS, and CPR certifications required
• Proficiency in regional blocks, epidurals, and spinals preferred
• Comfortable working independently in a solo CRNA environment

Schedule & Work Environment

• Locum Tenens assignment – estimated start early February, ongoing for 6 months
• Flexible schedule: two weeks on / two weeks off, or full-time coverage
• Preference for five 8-hour shifts, but 10-hour options available
• Light call schedule – approximately one night per week
• 50-bed hospital using Epic EMR
