New Multispecialty Anesthesia Site in Newport News Needs Locum CRNA Coverage
Job Description
This locum tenens CRNA opportunity supports the launch of a brand-new anesthesia site in Newport News, Virginia. The facility is expanding rapidly and building a large anesthesia team to support a broad and active surgical service line. Due to the new-site rollout, the group is seeking up to twelve CRNAs with flexible availability who are comfortable working within a medically directed care team model.
This assignment offers accelerated credentialing, multiple shift options, and exposure to a wide range of cases. It is well-suited for CRNAs looking for short-term coverage with schedule variety, predictable workflows, and the opportunity to join a newly established clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide anesthesia care across multiple surgical specialties in a hospital setting
- Deliver care within a medically supervised MD/CRNA model (1:4 ratio)
- Participate in scheduled day shifts and optional call coverage
- Support OB coverage, including 24-hour shifts when scheduled
- Complete pre-anesthesia assessments and post-anesthesia management
- Document care using the Epic electronic medical record system

- General surgery

- Orthopedic surgery
- Obstetrics (including 24-hour OB coverage)
- Urology
- Gynecology
- Ophthalmology
- Endoscopy
Schedule & Shift Structure
- Assignment duration: 12 weeks
- Accelerated privileging with temporary privileges available
- Required shift availability:
- 8-hour shifts
- 10-hour shifts
- 12-hour shifts
- 24-hour shifts (OB coverage)
- Day shifts required
- In-house call preferred but not mandatory
- Overtime available but not expected
- Holiday coverage preferred

Job Requirements
- Active NBCRNA certification required
- State licensure in Virginia or ability to obtain
- Comfort working in a supervised care team model
- Flexibility with shift length and scheduling
