Job Description

A community hospital in Central Iowa is seeking Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) for an ongoing locum tenens assignment offering true solo practice, strong hourly compensation, and a manageable call structure. This is a definite opportunity with immediate coverage needs, including full-time availability, though flexible scheduling options such as two weeks on/two weeks off will be considered for the right candidates.

This facility is a 50-bed hospital currently operating five active operating rooms and expanding with the addition of a new OR. The anesthesia model is solo CRNA practice, with a fully staffed team consisting of nine CRNAs. Due to current staffing gaps, two locum CRNAs are needed to support consistent coverage and long-term stability. Providers in this role will practice independently while collaborating closely with surgical and nursing teams.

The case mix is primarily bread-and-butter anesthesia and includes orthopedics, OB/GYN, ENT, cataracts, podiatry, and urology. There are no cardiac, neuro, or spine cases. Obstetric volume averages approximately 400 births annually, and CRNAs do not remain in-house while epidurals are running. Providers are expected to be comfortable with regional anesthesia, including blocks, spinals, and epidurals.

The schedule preference is five eight-hour shifts per week, though four ten-hour shifts will be considered. Overtime is paid for hours worked beyond the scheduled shift. Call responsibilities are light, typically one weekday night per week, with optional weekend call for those interested in additional compensation. The facility utilizes Epic as its electronic medical record system. Credentialing typically takes around 90 days, with an anticipated start in early February and an initial commitment of six months.
